The shell toe just got a haircut, or maybe the opposite of one. Tokyo label Liberaiders has teamed up with adidas Originals on a Superstar in a single "Blue/White" colorway, and per Hypebeast it releases Saturday, October 24 through SOULGOODS.
The smooth leather is gone. The upper is wrapped in a bright, long-haired blue material that looks like it'd be soft to pet, with smoother blue panels around the eyestays and tongue for a little contrast. Creamy off-white Three Stripes, shell toe, laces and sole give it a slightly vintage look, and gold branding on the sidewall adds a small flash of metal. Liberaiders' origami crane shows up as white embroidery on the tongue, and again on the blue insoles and the packaging.
The SKU and price are still listed as TBC, so we'll update this post when they're out.
Our take: fuzzy Superstars keep popping up this fall, and this one stands out because it commits to a single loud blue and keeps everything else calm. It's Cookie Monster in a good way. Keep it far away from puddles and anyone holding a lint roller.
